Start up obedience

Puppy classes |
This is a 4 week course suitable for those who are starting at the beginning of dog training or feel that they need to go back to the beginning .... don’t worry if that’s you - you‘re not alone.
For Puppies or Beginners ......
No frills, no fuss, and no fancy footwork - this is a basic obedience beginners class (hmm - i was almost saying no “fun” there too - but that’s not true - all our classes about about having fun with your dog.)
We run roughly the same format for puppies, juniors and older dogs, but as our classes are small (6 dogs), then as we progress, it’s customised to suit the needs of the class and works well too in a mixed ability format. Seperate classes are run for puppies and for older dogs.
The classes run for just under an hour, with the following format
Week 1,2 - usually this teaches the basics, such as sit, stand (trust me!), down, heel, and recall.
Weeks 3,4 moving forward with the basics, giving you lots of practice, adding a few new techniques, and gradually making things more distracting for your dog.
4 weeks is a very short time! You won't go away with a perfectly trained dog - but you will understand what needs to be done (especially if you've attended the Paws-ed session), and if you feel that more class work is suitable for you, then you can book in for another 4 weeks. |
| Continuing Improvement Classes |
These training classes again run for 4 weeks, but we do recommend that you come to the start-up education week too.
These classes tend to be mixed ages and mixed ability - and that’s fine! The content is hard to predict, as it covers what you want. Usually tho’ it will cover lead pulling, recall, jumping up, build on stay/wait etc. - but we may also throw in some surprises!
Again, these classes run for 4 weeks, and you can sign-up for as many courses as you feel you need - each time you come along, you will continue to advance with your training.

| Just for Fun |
Some people want to stick to the basics, and some people want to throw in some tricks and fun - so this is where you get to choose. These training classes, of course work on some of the basics (again depending on the group’s needs), but we also throw in a pile of tricks, dance moves, and teach some fun games. Again, it’s suitable for puppies, juniors and older dogs.
