NEW CLASS FORMAT for June 2008

We have listened to you - about what you want - and have devised a new class format to better suit your needs - and make things more flexible for all. Classes are now split into -

Puppy Classes | Start up classes | Continuing Improvement Classes | Just for Fun | Focus Groups | Rehab Classes

Paws-ed! This is an introduction to training - an educational class for you - without your dog. This makes sure that you really understand the training process, and that all your questions are answered. We thoroughly recommend that you attend this 1 hour course before attending our other classes - you will significantly improve your training abilities.

When? just before new runs of classes.

Start up obedience
classes /

Puppy classes

This is a 4 week course suitable for those who are starting at the beginning of dog training or feel that they need to go back to the beginning .... don’t worry if that’s you - you‘re not alone.

For Puppies or Beginners ......

No frills, no fuss, and no fancy footwork - this is a basic obedience beginners class (hmm - i was almost saying no “fun” there too - but that’s not true - all our classes about about having fun with your dog.)

We run roughly the same format for puppies, juniors and older dogs, but as our classes are small (6 dogs), then as we progress, it’s customised to suit the needs of the class and works well too in a mixed ability format. Seperate classes are run for puppies and for older dogs.

The classes run for just under an hour, with the following format

Week 1,2 - usually this teaches the basics, such as sit, stand (trust me!), down, heel, and recall.

Weeks 3,4 moving forward with the basics, giving you lots of practice, adding a few new techniques, and gradually making things more distracting for your dog.

4 weeks is a very short time! You won't go away with a perfectly trained dog - but you will understand what needs to be done (especially if you've attended the Paws-ed session), and if you feel that more class work is suitable for you, then you can book in for another 4 weeks.

Continuing Improvement Classes These training classes again run for 4 weeks, but we do recommend that you come to the start-up education week too.

These classes tend to be mixed ages and mixed ability - and that’s fine! The content is hard to predict, as it covers what you want. Usually tho’ it will cover lead pulling, recall, jumping up, build on stay/wait etc. - but we may also throw in some surprises!

Again, these classes run for 4 weeks, and you can sign-up for as many courses as you feel you need - each time you come along, you will continue to advance with your training.

Just for Fun Some people want to stick to the basics, and some people want to throw in some tricks and fun - so this is where you get to choose. These training classes, of course work on some of the basics (again depending on the group’s needs), but we also throw in a pile of tricks, dance moves, and teach some fun games. Again, it’s suitable for puppies, juniors and older dogs.

Focus Classes 2 hour focus workshops for specific problems - to focus on specific problems, like - lead pulling and recall.

There classes are run on an adhoc basis, please register your interest to find out more.

Rehab / Behaviour Classes Re-hab classes are special behaviour classes for those dogs who don't cope well in a normal class environment and who may be overly excitable or aggressive or scared of other dogs. You will have already started your dogs behaviour modification program, and progressed partly thro' that. This allows you to get together with other dogs in a controlled environment to help with your training. Please note that this is not suitable for all problem dogs. The classes will have a maximum of 4 dogs, and are run on an adhoc basis. Prices depend on the group and location.
