Our qualified dog behaviourist is Anna Patfield. Anna has been fixing dogs' behaviour problems for over 10 years and has worked with all sorts of problems from biting to fireworks fear and separation problems.
Firstly, your questions.
What is dog behaviour therapy? Modern applied dog behaviour therapy is about getting to the root of your dogs problems, holistically. There's no point in just looking at 1 particular aspect of your dogs barking problem. It's necessary to take the big picture into account and look at all the things that are stressing your dog out. Then we develop a step by step plan to essentially help your dog feel differently in all the situations that are causing problems. Read more about how Anna's dog behaviour help works here
Where can we help you? Behaviour therapy consultations are available in
- Aberdeen, and along the A96 from Inverness to Aberdeen. Please read more here > Dog Behaviour consultations in Aberdeen
- Scottish Highlands at the Pet Behaviour Centre in Ardgay (near Bonar Bridge and Tain and 35 miles from Inverness). Please read more here > Dog Behaviour Help, Ardgay and Inverness
- Please note that we are no longer able to provide help in Perth, Dundee, Fife etc. Look here to find a trusted behaviourist elsewhere.
How does it happen? There are a few steps to go through to help you with your dogs behaviour problems. Firstly, we set up an appointment. Then there's a vet referral form to organise, and a questionnaire about your dogs life and problems (don't worry its not hard to fill in and it's short). Then we meet for about 2 hours, help you to understand why things are going wrong and what it is that you need to do about it and how you move forward. It's about educating you. Helping you to really understand everything, so that you're able to work on your own. Ofcourse, on going support is provided too. Please read more about dog behaviour consultations here. |
